Vandaag is Vrijdag

"Vandaag is Vrijdag" means today is Friday in Dutch (fandaakh is freydaakh).

Rather than did a typical lab routine, I decided to pick up my residential permit; and headed to;

The IND.

I went to the IND (Immigratie en Naturalisatie Dienst), located in Solterdijk (Solterdiyk) region ~ sort of our immigration department. Actually, I have received a letter, informing me to collect this document last two weeks, but I was a bit busy with some works, and keep on postponing the collection date. By the way, dealing with the IND is one of the painstaking processes to get into this country. They are well-known for their strict policy (a very strict policy) ~ I used to wait for almost 3 months to get my entry visa ready.

But, the best thing, when everything is ready, especially having this residential permit with you, it will be a very convenience way to travel among Schengen countries (such as Switzerland, France, Greece, and other 13 countries – either EU’s or non-EU’s). Anyway, as for my residential permit, the processing time just took me almost less than a month, I can say a bit ok, since most of my international colleagues here had informed me, it took them almost two months to get the permit ready. Yeayyyy!

The Dam Square .

The Dam Square is a town square in Amsterdam, and its notable buildings and frequent events make it one of the most well-known and important locations in the city. Well, it is summer now, and today it means – summer. A couple of days back; we had bit cloudy and rainy days. Pretty nice and soothing, But no harm with a full sunny day (kat Malaysia lagi panas kan …). As usual, all mat and minah salleh will take this opportunity to scatter around outside and me (as usual) will try to hide under the shady places.. heh..heh..heh. But a combination of chilly wind and a sunny day seems to be not a very good option. It is easy for you to get mild cough, without you knowing it.

Tauhid Mosque.

For sure, today is Friday, and it me as a weekly congregation prayer for Muslims, especially for male Muslims. Since I went to Sloterdijk (place where I had collected my permit), it is a bit far for me to go to the Vrije University Islamic Centre (where I regularly have my weekly prayer), so I decided to go to the Tauhid Mosque, located nearby the street called De Clercqstraat, a bit outskirt from Amsterdam (around 30-minute walking distance from the centre of Amsterdam). The mosque scenery is really nice inside, and the sermon is conducted in Turkish language.

My lunch.

Ooooo there is no fancy Malaysian meals as for sure. I just had a very nice shaorma with rice, at the Turkish restaurant. I had a plan to get my lunch at the Indonesian restaurant (which is nearby to the mosque) – but it was closed.

Shaorma (or shawarma) is a Middle Easte rn-style sandwich usually composed of shaved lamb, goat, or chicken (can be eat en with bread, fries, or rice). Shawarma is a popular dish and fast-food staple across the Middle East, and is consumed across the rest of the world as well.

Watching the volleyball game.

Yupp, I’ m a big fan of a volleyball game. Luckily the Eurosport channel brought a delayed telecast for a couple of World -Grand Prix championship games. I watched USA vs Poland, Cuba vs. Russia and Thailand vs. Germany (three games in a row .... These are among the powerhouse in the world volleyball arena (teringat Maero Attack pulak kan).

The dinner.

hmmmm, since i had a very luxury lunch (oppsss, did i mention i had a nice-slice of apple pie and a cup of coffee in the evening?) ... dinner is something too much for me. (kenyang teramat....). * tapi sebenarnya malas nak masak .. kalau dah ada makanan depan mata tu harus licin jugak kan ... (say no to not to eat!). Alahaiiii .. tiba 2 teringat kat ;
