Joyful Tears

Actually, I’ve received an e-mail from my former students. They actually went to my office at UUM, with a mission to surprise me (they had brought a present too). But, they were surprised to read the notice saying, “On Study Leave – 2008 till 2012”. Poor them. Thinking that it might be as a silly joke (as I normally did to my students), they did call my HP number (indeed it is working, since I’ve activated the roaming service). But, I didn’t pick up their calls ( I was doing my laundry that time). Finally, they e-mailed me. Again, I just read their e-mail (after went back from Kak Zu’s place – I went to Leiden, since Kak Zu and her husband had invited me (and a couple of their friends) to have nice meals there).

Their e-mail is simple, indeed really touch the inner me.

“Hi & Salam Sir, hopefully you’re not kidding saying that you’re now in The Netherlands. We thought that we would like to surprise you with your favourite cheese cake – we bought this at the Secret Recipe. We know, it is your favourite, since you did inform us in the class that you really like that cake (the fibre one). We still remember that. We just want to celebrate our first pay check with you. We are proud to have you as our lecturer and our friend. Probably, if you’re around here, kindly contact us back – this number 012-xxxxxxx”.

Yup, I still remember this group of students. They indeed had been working hard for their Intelligent System final project (and smart), and know how to respect others. Some of them are working with Intel, Telekom, and Bank Negara. Indeed it is a great bless to have such students around you. After all, there is no harm to be their friend (and again to know the limit as well). Despite a couple of bad things happened to me of being in such way (biasalakan, orang akan suka buat gosip, cerita bukan2, atau perasan bukan2 ..... dah jadi adat org kita kot), this group of students is always constantly reminding me – they are our students and friends in many ways. The thing that I will cherish in life, and motivate me to be a better teacher and person. Sometimes, you will learn a lot about life from them as well in return. To them, best of luck from me (I know they didn’t know this blog). My turn to say – thanks for being a very supportive and good student. God bless you. Sorry for not be able to celebrate with you guys (a bit hopeless for me). Suddenly, I was burst into a joyful tear. Yup, a joyful one. I guess, they are among the beacon of hope, to tell the tale to the whole world, that you simply can change others life - even by saying hi .. or a simple smile. That will make a do.

Hmm, anyway, i had a great weekend this week. I had a very nice chicken rice meal at Kak Zu's house (wahh senarai mengidam sudah makin berkurangan, dengarnya ada org nak buat nasi kerabu pulak .. layannnnn). Dessert ? nice chocolate fondue strawberry & apple pie. Burpppp …. (siap termimpi makan nasi ayam ni).

- this is my first visit to Kak Zu's house, with my friends. The latest one ? maaflah ye, dah makan2 terlupa pulak nak bersesi fotografi ...

p/s: Sapa2 nak ajak makan tu, boleh aje .... (kalau org kat Malaysia, akan ku tuntut kelak .. tunggu ye kepulangan ku yang entah bila ni) .. ~ manalah tau jumpa datin kaya yang nak taja tiket .. opsssss .. sorry. (tiket aje ...)
