Most countries celebrate Labour Day on May 1, known as May Day and International Workers' Day. In Europe the day has older significance as a rural festival which is predominantly more important than that of the Labour Day movement. The holiday has become internationalised and several countries hold multi-day celebrations including parades, shows and other patriotic and labour-oriented events. In Malaysia, we called as "Hari Pekerja" or "Hari Buruh" ~ ermmmm, "Hari Buruh" seems to be a bit awkward, since we will normally associate the "buruh" with a "kuli" stuff. If i'm in Malaysia, i will boycott this day, why ? .. the government still wanting us to go for the PTK (penilaian tahap kecekapan). What a load of rubbish! Sometimes i can't help myself why such an evaluation method has been used? For example, you will be tested with the whole process of administrative works, procedures, where else the most crucial components that need to be evaluated are research, technical ability and teaching (if you're an academician). Many of the evaluation procedures in Malaysia, are totally a pile of craps. I remember when i did my induction course (they got exam), where all questions are related to the history, government procedures, constitutions, legals, and budgets.

Left: (my working station .. nice view)
Right: (argghh .. byknya kena baca ..dugaan ni)
God, (laa .. tak habis-habis lagi ke?) they were asking these stuffs to the computer scientists, mathematicians (it will be a piece of cake to those social sciences people)? Can you see how the system works? Are we been governed by !@#$%^^ ? I believe all of us should know these things, but to evaluated through and through sounds ridiculous (how about we put it this way ~ asking loads of digital system and mutivariate calculus to them, is it sounds fair enough?). Guys, I rest my case! (anda mampu mengubahnya) - end and full stop (habis dah) . Back to what i want to say, as in the Nertherlands, it means another day's off (begins with Queen's day on 30th April, Ascension Day (Christian's celebration), and end up with Liberation Day on 5th May). Most of the local people will be on leave till 7th of May. Wooww weeeee .. a week leave. For me ? .. more papers to catch up (i got a pile of them laying ..to be read), and more chances to visit some places (hmmm... ). Anyway, to all workers!, Happy Workers' Day! work is one of the ibadahs, do it well.
(Disclaimer: this is not an anti-goverment blog ;-) .. just an anti-stupidity practice in the government ~ please, unite & reform! ..opssss did i say that ? cabut lari! )
