Geek's Talk IX: Learning from Nature

Salam & Good day,

According to typical engineering paradoxes,

Bees can't fly
Dolphins can't swim
Cockroach can't avoid obstacle
Kangaroo can't speed up
Gecko's can't climb
....and Azizi can't dance. :-)

Do they? . Except the last one ;-), scientists have found many interesting facts how these beautiful God's creations against those paradoxes. From these perspectives, many engineering wonders can be designed. For example, the movement of those slimy-stinky house cockroaches provide a good insight to design a robot that capable to move around within rough and full-with-obstacles surfaces. Contrary to our understanding, those roaches are eventually jumping and walking. By synchronizing these fluid movements, viola!, they managed to flip, move, and wonder around - in a robust way. Having these in machines, then we will have a good search-and-rescue robot, mainly sneaks and saves life (or peeping you ;- )).

Some of the nature-inspired machines that shall inherent the earth (no worries, i am just kidding),.....

*Rhex: search and rescue robot inspired by walking synchronization of cockroaches

*Mecho-Gecko ~ The gecko-inspired robot that capable to climb the wall.

*Robotic snake: ~ inspired by serpentine maneuvering flexibilities

*Symbrion: swarm robotics that mimic the cooperation and communication
of ants/termites communities

Azizi: The do-not-know-how-to-dance biological robot

Well, knowing these wonders, i believe more we are trying to unlock the secret of nature, and more we will understand the real ground truth of it. Nature hides many great things to be explored!
