She Did It Again!

Salam & Good day,

Yes, she did it again!, none than other, our squash queen, Datuk Nicol Ann David. She beats her opponent, Natalie Grinham (the Dutch player - a former Australian citizen), 3 sets to nil (11-9, 11-9, 11-4) within 55 minutes, to claim the Dutch Open 2008 championship crown. I was there (and not seeing many Malaysians there, or they were hiding like me, within the Dutch crowd), watching the exciting games, at the Frans Otten Stadium. Yes, she deserves the Duracell Bunny nickname. She is extremely agile, cunning on her feet, a great retriever and aggressive attacking player. Considering her young age, i reckon she is expected to remain the top female player in the game for many years to come.

Inside the Frans Otten Stadium

Dubbed as one of the most successful sports woman in Malaysia's history, Nicol's journey to the top symbolizes her great fortitude, devotion and willpower to win. Her story is one of sacrifice, focus and extraodinary talent. Something that we, Malaysian should have. (and all athletes as well ;-)).

Wah, sempat possing!

ooo ..degilnye si Natalie ni..... ambik kau!

The Jubilant Nicol, Kudos!

Interviewed by The NL tv

Managed to wish a heartily congratulation to her, personally. Her first question, - Malaysian ? .... and i said yes. and we had a simple chat. One of the conversations we had is about how she managed to reclaim her feet, despite sometimes being defeated in the early counts. Well, she has a secret to share - "i do not care much about my opponent's points, but i will stay focus to get the match point on my side, having that i will not put so much pressure to myself". Actually, this is my 3rd time wacthing her games - live. I'm not fancy much squash (considering i'm, one of the worst squash players among my friends), but i love to see the way she control her emotion, stay focus, and determine to win. Such qualities that make her as the unbeaten champion. She reminds me of one of the Indonesian badminton players, Susi Susanti, a former world champion. Yup, both of them are in the different fields, but they share the same quality - being a champion, with style. Something i guess, dedication, stay in control, and pure determination are among the ingredients of their triumphant in their field . Luck has nothing to do with this. ;-) Well Nicol, you make us, Malaysian proud of you!.

Pakcik said: Getting and stay ahead in everything requires constant belief and faith in yourself. I've seen many people with just a plain mediocre talent, but with immense inner belief, reach beyond than people with superior talent, and lacking in belief. Again, luck has nothing to do with this.

Wow! Thanks for sharing...

Whatever we're doing.. working, studying or even playing sports... In order to achieve our goals successfully, we need to stay focused and in control... It's a key success and winning!! It's not easy as our life is full of distraction... but it's possible!

Often times, people forget about their core responsibilities... the purpose! I always love to plan and try to prioritize... I believe good planning will always put me focus, in full control and on tops of things...

As in life, we always face problems... I took it as a challenges... take charge, control of the situation, and also focus more on solution rather than the problem it self... too much of thinking over problem sometimes will create more issues, bigger and then... boom! explode... and I don't like it...

It's true what she said... it doesn't matter how good or better your opponents were... the only matters is what will happen later... focus, in control... then WIN!

Our competition is everywhere... Life, Love, Job, etc... to stay ahead in everything is possible.. As long as we keep learning... take action whenever possible... and one more thing... muhasabah diri... where we need to hold back... take a glimpse of past to make sure we're on the right path...

**I'm sorry for the long comment... you and Nicol have inspired me... I'm touched!

Mencari dan membina kekuatan diri sendiri mmg penting supaya walau dtg cabaran, halangan dan tentangan yg mcamana sekalipun, kita tetap teguh berdiri dan berjaya mengalahkan lawan, dan kalaupun kita kalah, kita kalah bermaruah..
